Panayiotis Lamprou (Panolamprou) – Unveiling Inner Vision
Exploring Eutopia’s Collaboration with Panayiotis Lamprou: A Visionary Journey into Art and Philosophy
Eutopia is proud to announce an exciting new collaboration with the renowned visual artist Panayiotis Lamprou. Known for his deeply philosophical approach to photography and his bold explorations of existential themes, Lamprou brings a unique perspective to contemporary visual arts. This partnership will explore the intersection of visual language, human presence, and abstract thought.
Panolamprou: A Visionary Artist
Panayiotis Lamprou’s work is rooted in pure photography, where he emphasizes an unintrusive observation of life and its light. He approaches his subjects not as a direct participant but as an observer, allowing the space and light to communicate the essence of existence to the viewer. His work often delves into complex themes such as mental illness, social norms, and the relationship between the individual and the state. With a focus on paradoxes, Lamprou challenges traditional perceptions and invites the viewer to engage in a deeper understanding of both the self and the world around them.
A prominent figure in the photography world, Lamprou has received accolades such as the Second Prize at the Taylor Wessing Photographic Portrait Prize in 2010 for his portrait, "Portrait of my British Wife." His work continues to resonate with those seeking a more profound connection with the themes of life, existence, and the subtle intricacies of human nature.
At Eutopia, our mission has always been to provide a platform for visionary artists who challenge the norms and explore new possibilities in their practice. Panayiotis Lamprou embodies the spirit of Eutopia by combining art with a deep philosophical inquiry. In his recent projects, Lamprou engages with both the human body and the urban environment, capturing moments of intimacy and monumental movement.
A key collaboration that embodies this vision is Lamprou’s work with the Amalgama Dance Company, led by choreographer Maria Gorgia. For over a year, Lamprou has been involved in this experimental space where dancers, actors, and jam practitioners come together to explore movement and improvisation. As a visual artist, he documents the raw energy of these sessions, creating still images that capture the dynamic interplay of body, space, and light.
Another ongoing project of Lamprou’s that connects deeply with Eutopia’s values is D.E.U.S., an online abstract experiment of Logos that explores the purity of intention. This project, running since 2020, continues to evolve and will remain available indefinitely, offering viewers an opportunity to delve into an abstract conceptualization of existence.
Schinoussa and the Small Cyclades: A Place of Inspiration
The profound impact of nature on Lamprou’s work cannot be overlooked. For more than a decade, Lamprou spent two months every summer on the small Greek island of Schinoussa, located in the Small Cyclades. He fell in love with its untouched beauty—the rugged landscapes and pristine waters embody the spirit of simplicity and purity that infuses his work. The sunlight of Nietzsche’s philosophy, the wildness of the natural world, and the timeless essence of the island continue to shape his creative approach.

Inner Vision: A Manifesto for the Soul
Lamprou’s Inner Vision is more than just a concept; it’s a manifesto—a poetic exploration of the labyrinthine nature of life and the journey of the soul. Inspired by the wisdom of an old fisherman, Lamprou describes a personal philosophy where courage, kindness, and humility guide the path toward enlightenment. The metaphorical labyrinth that unfolds in his work is symbolic of the trials and revelations we experience throughout our lives. The seemingly small moments—like an ant crossing the labyrinth’s lines—carry profound insights into the nature of existence.
This meditation on existence and spirituality serves as the foundation for Lamprou’s work, inviting viewers to see beyond the surface and connect with the deeper, often hidden layers of reality. The abstract yet grounded nature of his philosophy allows him to speak not just to the intellect, but to the soul.
As a poem a Manifesto: The old fisherman
The old fisherman told me:
Listen to the steps of others, but don’t play the mime.
Go from rock to rock to find the Minotaur.
It seems that life has the color blues.
When I heard the secret I understood
how to follow the labyrinth of life.
I have a sword made of 4 elements.
Fire: heart with courage
Air: stomach without anger
Water: chest with kindness
Earth: shoulders without vanity
I believe.
I can look at the Minotaur in the eye.
The laws of soul guide me to the labyrinth.
The soul experience incarnation.
The labyrinth could be a drawing on the sand.
An ant is walking on the drawings and disturbing it.
I had drawn it with details and its walls lead to the Minotaur.
An ant made me see the labyrinth from above.
Maybe I see like a God now. The lines are geometrical.God said: with geometry we have constructed the world.
The ant is only searching obviously for winter food.
It crosses the labyrinth without realising me.

The place of action for the Small Cyclades & Inner Vision program is the breathtaking Small Cyclades in the Aegean Sea, including the islands of Schinoussa, Iraklia, Kato Koufonisi, Keros, and South Naxos. These islands, steeped in history dating back to 3000 BC, are the heart of the Aegean Sea and offer a perfect environment for artistic creation. The accommodation complex is located on a 1.2-hectare property along the southern coastline of Schinoussa, offering a magnificent amphitheatrical view of the Aegean. Just 2.2 kilometers from Mersini, the port of Schinoussa, and about 450 meters from the island's capital, Panagia, this tranquil space provides an ideal retreat for artists. The complex, consisting of two buildings, offers both comfort and a peaceful atmosphere, designed to immerse participants in the natural beauty of the area. Surrounded by rugged shores, crystalline waters, and timeless architecture, Schinoussa provides a serene and inspiring environment for participants to focus on their artistic research, exploration, and the creation of photographic narratives. It is in this unique location, with its rich cultural treasure and the striking light and colors of the Greek sun, that artists will be encouraged to connect deeply with their surroundings, all while exploring the themes of Inner Vision through photography and reflection.
